Interdependency

In her book What World Is This?, Judith Butler reflects on the reciprocity of touch: when we touch something, we are touched by it at the same time. This creates interdependencies and interrelations with the world around us and shapes how we relate to it.
Interdependency explores multiple levels of interrelations through music-making. The programme traces relationships between chamber music partners, performers and audience, acoustic instruments and electronics, and between established contemporary repertoire and newly created works.
The evening features a world premiere by German-Swedish composer Henrik Ajax for cello and electronics, which explores haptic qualities in sound. One of Ajax's artistic reference points is the music of Kaija Saariaho, whose works will be heard throughout the evening in solo and duo settings. Recent compositions by Dilay Doğanay and Juta Pranulytė further explore the relationship between voice and instrument, body and sound, while four Haikai by Hans Zender complete the programme.
The concert is performed by flutist and pedagogue Aleksandra Škrilec and cellist and artistic researcher Anna Grenzner, who have collaborated closely since 2020 in a shared commitment to contemporary music. Bringing together established repertoire and new works, Interdependency invites listeners to a lively, sensory and attentive sonic encounter.
