Die Videoarbeit Infinity des
israelischen Künstlers Uri Tzaig zeigt ein Spiel – ohne Ende und ohne
Anfang, ohne Sieger und ohne Verlierer, ohne Regeln, ohne Gegner.
Ununterscheidbar in ihren Sportanzügen haben die Spieler weder
Startnummern noch sind sie Träger von Sponsormarken. Infinity
basiert auf einer Performance, die Tzaig mit einer Tanzkompanie in
Montpellier inszeniert hat. Eine Gruppe von Männern und Frauen spielt
einander einen Ball zu; es wird ein Spiel, das kein herkömmliches Spiel
ist. Die Poesie und die Eleganz der Bewegung verdrängen die Rivalität
eines Sportmatches, lassen das notwendige
Regelwerk hinter sich und dehnen sich im Erkunden des Raumes zueinander in
die Unendlichkeit aus.
The video work Infinity by the Israeli artist Uri Tzaïg shows a game – without end or beginning, without winners or losers, without rules or opposing team. Undistinguishable in their sports gear, the players wear neither start numbers nor sponsor brands. Infinity is based on a performance staged by Tzaïg along with a dance company in Montpellier. A group of ten male and female players pass the ball to each other – the result is a very unusual game. The poetry and elegance of movement override the rivalry of a normal sports match, leaving the otherwise necessary rules behind and exploring inter-relational space while expanding to infinity.
