The video work Infinity by the Israeli artist Uri Tzaïg shows a game – without end or beginning, without winners or losers, without rules or opposing team. Undistinguishable in their sports gear, the players wear neither start numbers nor sponsor brands. Infinity is based on a performance staged by Tzaïg along with a dance company in Montpellier. A group of ten male and female players pass the ball to each other – the result is a very unusual game. The poetry and elegance of movement override the rivalry of a normal sports match, leaving the otherwise necessary rules behind and exploring inter-relational space while expanding to infinity. |
