Das
Wertesystem „Kunst“ hinterfragt der englische Künstler Jonathan Monk durch
subtiles Aufbrechen von determinierten „Erwartungen“: Wie ein Kicker durch
die einfache Hinwegnahme des Objektes seiner professionellen Begierde –
das simple Ausschneiden des Fußballs und das Positionieren in ein anderes
Bildfeld – vom Erhabenen ins Lächerliche gepusht wird, so werden die
Wert(schöpfungs)systeme allgemein hinterfragt, befreit und erweitert:
Kunst als die Kreation eines Raumes von Freiheit, als Erlaubnis und
Aufforderung zu freien Gedanken und Ideen, die – einem Fußball gleich –
herumgespielt werden können...
The value system of art is questioned by the English artist Jonathan Monk in a subtle break with pre-determined “expectations”: In the same way that a soccer player is pushed from the sublime to the ridiculous by simply taking away the object of his professional desire – cutting out the ball and positioning it in a different area of the picture –, value(-added) systems in general are questioned, expanded and freed of restrictions: Art as a means of creating room to move, as permission and request for freedom of thought and ideas, which – just like a football – can also be played around with.
