Das Bild des Siegers ist komplementär
zum Bild des Verlierers und umgekehrt. Die australische Künstlerin Tracey
Moffatt erfasste in den TV-Bildern der Olympischen Spiele 2000 in Sydney
jene präzisen psychologischen Umschlagsmomente der Dialektik von Sieger
und Verlierer. Ihre HeldInnen sind die vom Siegerpodest
knapp ausgeschlossenen Vierten des
Wettkampfs.
Die Bilder zeigen die fragile Emotion
jener Tausendstelsekunde
vor der Akzeptanz der Gewissheit über den Verlust des Platzes am
Siegerpodest: Glaube und Unglaube halten sich noch die Waage, bevor
Frustration, Resignation, Enttäuschung und Wut durchbrechen.
Ein Moment, der jenseits des symbolischen Status von Nationalität, Rasse
und Geschlecht, der nichts anderes als die pure
persönliche
Dramatik zeigt.
The picture of the winner is complementary to that of the loser and vice-versa. In TV pictures of the Olympics 2000 in Sydney, the Australian artist Tracey Moffatt captured precisely this psychological moment on the brink of transition in the dialectics of winning and losing. Her heroines are those ranked fourth in the competition, excluded from the winning pedestal. The tragedy of those who just missed out on the victory is caught in a split second of emotion, where belief and disbelief still hold the balance before frustration, resignation, deception and rage take grasp. A moment which, beyond the symbolic status of nationality, race and gender, shows nothing but the drama of the individual person.
